Logan Austin – 159k DEF – Ave 99 – BE -102
The most popular trade in for rookies this week, Austin has impressed in his opening two games for St Kilda after crossing from Port Adelaide. There was an interesting stat that went around saying his two direct opponents in the opening two games (Riewoldt and Darling) went down early, so it freed up Austin a little. Even if this is the case, a 70 average from here on in will still see him as a brilliant cash cow and bench cover.
Josh Daicos – 190k DEF/MID – Ave 57 – BE 0
Son of former mercurial Pie Peter, Daicos hasn’t set the world on fire in his opening two outings. At his 190k price tag, there are better options for less who are averaging more and have better job security. Collingwood also have the bye next week, so I’d pass on him
Callum Moore – 133k FWD – Ave 64 – BE -48
Another Richmond rookie? The 21 year old has performed admirably so far and has been around the 60 mark for both games. Looks to have taken over Jacob Townsend’s spot in the side and he is also doing some rucking when required. The round 14 bye is the only concern, but for 133k, if you are looking for a downgrade option, highly recommend bringing in Moore.
Jamaine Jones – 123k FWD – Ave 53 – BE -32
JJ is slowly gaining cult status at Geelong with his goal smarts and speed. Made his debut during Geelong’s “Djilang” round and he kicked a goal with his first kick in league football. Backed it up with two majors against Gold Coast and will be a decent cash cow until the likes of Cockatoo come back from injury. Scored 40 on debut, but stepped it up with a 66, but needs to kick goals to get decent scores. Round 14 bye also sucks.
Jacob Heron – 102k DEF – Ave 44 – BE -27
Bargain basement priced at 102k, Heron plays for Gold Coast which means he has had his bye and will play (if selected) all three regular bye rounds. Would only consider if you have question marks over Mihocek’s job security at Collingwood.
Mihocek -133 (one game)
Ahern -94 (one game)
Giro -17 (one game)
