Bubble Boys & Breakevens – Round 7

Looming as a very important time for Supercoachers, we take a look at the bubble boys who are worth getting and some potential upgrade options for your maxed out rookies.

Popular rookies Sam Murray (BE 53) and Jeremy Finlayson (BE 57) are nearing the end, so unless they can pull out a big score or two in the next couple of games, we need some plans in place for how to replace them.

BUBBLE BOYS

Tom Cole – 170k defender BREAKEVEN: -64

Cole missed the opening four rounds due to family reasons, but got his chance in round 5 and surprised us all with a 97. He backed it up with a 67 and with a BE of -64, now is the time to get him in. With Jetta a bit injury prone, it seems like that Cole’s job security is pretty good at this stage. Expect more the 60-70 scores from Cole as his 97 was probably a flash in the pan score.

Taylin Duman – 123k defender BREAKEVEN: -65

Can we trust Ross the Boss not to drop the latest Fremantle youngster to make the team? Duman worked his way into the side after some solid performances in the WAFL late 2017 and early this season. Scores of 85 and 53 in his opening two games. A good bench option if you have Naughton/Bonner/Coffield and you are looking to get rid of them for some extra cash.

Cameron Zurhaar – 190k forward BREAKEVEN: -18

Zurhaar played a couple of games late in 2017 which explains his higher price. Like Cole and Duman, started his year with an 87, but backed it up with a lower score, managing only 44. Would only recommend getting if you are desperate for cash.

Jordan Gallucci – 219k forward/midfield BREAKEVEN: 0

If you are wondering why Lachlan Murphy hasn’t made his return to the seniors, this guy is your answer. Gallucci came into the side replacing Murphy and has impressed. 54 and 76 for the former first round draft pick, but is very expensive at 219k. You won’t be making much money if you are downgrading Waterman/Fritsch to him. Would pass on Gallucci.

ON THE BUBBLE NEXT WEEK:

Charlie Spargo – 117k mid/fwd. AVE: 81

Ben Ronke – 123k fwd. AVE: 92

Kobe Mutch – 123k mid. AVE: 66

James Worpel – 117k mid. AVE: 64

Oscar McInerney – 123k ruck. AVE: 54

FALLEN PREMIUMS

Lachie Neale – 523k mid BE: 59 AVE: 101

Dominated the Derby with a 151 after a very lean start to the year. Got to remember its all about what the player can average WHILE they are in your team, not the whole season. If you look at Neale’s history, he is very capable of averaging 110 from here on in.

Jeremy Howe – 463k def BE: 46 AVE: 94

Howe was one of the defenders overlooked at the start of the year due to price and people preferring the break out options of Savage/Witherden etc. Currently 50k below starting price, Howe won’t come any cheaper, so now is the time to get him if you need a defender.

Josh P Kennedy – 441k mid BE 78 AVE 85

Was monstrous in the last quarter against Geelong which lead his side to victory but also to his second ton for the year. The only concern is can he keep this scoring due to the stars in the Sydney midfield and how will Hannebery affect him?

Zach Merrett – 506k mid BE: 75 AVE: 82

This is the guy I am eying off at the moment. Zerrett’s start to the year was affected due to a concussion, but his 3 round average of 111 is very promising. Is susceptible to a tag, but he won’t be coming any cheaper.

Michael Hibberd – 438k def BE: 101 AVE: 78

Scored 96 last week, but will probably need another couple games to convince us he is worth getting in. His BE is still reasonably high at 101, so you could be looking at getting the Piggerd in for around 400k in the next couple of weeks, pending his scores.

Jack Billings – 400k fwd BE: 105 AVE: 77

The name on everyone’s lips so far this season, Billings was meant to be the breakout of the season, but has disappointed so far. Mind you, he did start like this last year, before scoring 10 tons in his last 16 games. Worth holding to see if he can turn it around as it looks like he, like many Saints, are playing low on confidence.
