Injury Wrap – Round 7 – How long will Birchall and O’Meara be out?

Hawthorn may have lit the flame for a 2017 revival with a win over Melbourne on Sunday, but they are set to be without two crucial players for several weeks with Grant Birchall and Jaeger O’Meara both sidelined with knee injuries.

Birchall had missed four weeks with a broken jaw, but his return to the Hawks’ side was brief, as he injured his knee, believed to be a PCL, in a marking contest in the first quarter. Scans will indicate how long he will be sidelined for, but it is expected to be at least 4-6 weeks.

O’Meara, who had also missed a month of footy before returning last week, was named to play on Sunday but was a late withdrawal with knee problems. Read more…
